Unix

This is the installation manual of PiTcl 0.5, as of August 29, 1999. For a documentation of the available commands you should read the command reference.

Before starting the compilation and installation a few notes:

  • You have managed to unpack this package in a directory of your choice, whether it was gzipped tar-archive or a zip-archive. The path of the file you are reading now is something like .../pitcl0.5/doc/install.?. The .../pitcl0.5-part of it is that we will call the source-directory from now on.

This package depends in its operation on quite a few others. Here is a list of them:

tcl

of course. The package will compile with all versions from 8.0 and beyond.

pilot-link

This library does the grunt work for us, i.e. the handling of the low-level communication with the pilot, sending, receiving commands and data.

The following subsections describe the process of compiling and installing PiTcl for unix. Other platforms may follow, depending on the availability of pilot-link and tcl on them.
